Routine servicing is only part of the picture. In these roles, your technical know-how helps mine sites keep machines reliable, available and productive. You partner with the on-site maintenance crews. Using your Caterpillar background and your diagnostic and fault-finding skills, you identify issues, propose fixes and help lift the standard of maintenance. Some days are mostly advisory, others more hands-on, depending on operational requirements.
Selection is based on real qualifications, checked work history and proven technical capability. It is a strong option if you are an experienced professional hoping to move your heavy equipment skills into mining in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Use your diagnostic and fault-finding skills on Caterpillar heavy mobile machines so equipment spends less time out of action
- Investigate why equipment underperforms and choose suitable corrective steps
- Coach site maintenance personnel with specialist technical guidance, and support training and knowledge transfer
- Inspect machines, evaluate their condition, raise any reliability concerns and recommend maintenance improvements
- Support the planning and delivery of preventative maintenance, including component replacement and scheduled servicing
- Assist on warranty-related technical questions
- Feed technical input into fleet optimisation, and look for gains in reliability, availability and operating efficiency
- Join continuous improvement projects across customer operations
- Step in with practical, on-the-tools support if operations require it
- Write up service and technical records that are clear and correct
- Develop positive relationships with clients and site-based crews
- Comply with site safety, procedures and environmental standards, and work effectively across FIFO rosters and long shifts
Requirements & Eligibility
- You hold a recognised Mobile Plant Trade Certificate, or an international qualification that is equivalent
- You can demonstrate experience in maintaining heavy mobile plant
- Your background includes mining, field service or maintenance of large-scale equipment
- Strong practical Caterpillar machinery experience is highly regarded
- Your diagnostic and fault-finding ability is advanced, and you can analyse problems with equipment and propose solutions that work
- You know preventative maintenance and equipment reliability principles soundly
- You can combine advisory responsibilities with practical, hands-on tasks
- Your interpersonal and communication skills are strong, and you handle customer and stakeholder relationships professionally
- You are able to work alone and within a maintenance team
- You will work 12-hour shifts on FIFO rosters, and you are committed to safety and compliance in remote mining settings
- Holding high-risk work licences, for example Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Rigging or Working at Heights, is advantageous
- Visa sponsorship may be considered for overseas applicants with suitable experience and qualifications
