Cabinet Maker

A reputable kitchen and cabinetry business in Western Australia wants an experienced Cabinet Maker / Kitchen Installer for its permanent team in Rockingham, Perth. You will read plans, get cabinetry ready and finish detailed installs in people's homes. Practical skill, care with detail and reliability are all important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install kitchens, cabinets and cabinetry parts in homes
  • Study cabinetry plans, drawings and specifications
  • Measure each install area carefully and check site dimensions
  • Build up and prepare cabinets before installing them
  • Fit doors, panels, fillers, kickboards and hardware
  • Adjust cabinetry to suit the site, and do on-site changes and finishing work
  • Handle laminate, melamine and other cabinet materials
  • Spot problems during installs and find practical fixes
  • Check that every cabinet is straight, level and firmly fixed, with careful, high-quality workmanship
  • Finish jobs efficiently and to the required specifications
  • Work well with co-workers and other trades, and stay polite and professional in customers' homes
  • Keep your work area clean, tidy and safe, following workplace health and safety procedures

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in cabinet-making, joinery or kitchen installation
  • A relevant trade qualification in cabinet making, joinery or a related discipline is preferred
  • Proven experience installing kitchens and cabinetry in homes
  • Strong practical understanding of how cabinets are built and installed
  • Can read plans, drawings and measurements accurately
  • Strong eye for detail and good quality control
  • Can make changes on site and solve problems
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Can work on your own and manage the tasks you are given
  • Professional, reliable and careful about safety
  • Australian driver's licence or the ability to obtain one, plus reliable transport
  • Employment history that can be verified, with evidence of relevant trade experience
  • Previous Australian industry experience is highly regarded
  • Must be living in Australia at the moment
