Who fits best? Tradespeople who have built many cabinets before, can follow a technical drawing with ease and are happy on modern factory machines. Tip: get an English-language CV and copies of your trade documents ready before you apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Study each job's drawings, plans and production documents before you start
- Take exact measurements and cut and prepare the materials for production
- Build kitchens, laundries, wardrobes and other made-to-order cabinetry and joinery, exactly as the project specification says
- Set up and use CNC routers plus other automated machines, panel and beam saws, and edge banding equipment
- Join the cabinet and joinery parts together precisely
- Inspect the work as it moves through production, notice any problems and correct them, so each product looks right and meets the quality standard
- Go out to sites and help install when asked
- Keep your machines, hand tools and bench in good shape
- Stick to the workplace's health and safety requirements
- Cooperate closely with the people in production and installation
- Get your jobs done quickly but never at the cost of quality
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3–5 years of practical cabinet making work
- A relevant Cabinet Making trade qualification, or experience that is equivalent
- Proven work producing custom cabinetry
- Experience in residential and/or commercial joinery manufacturing
- Hands-on use of CNC machinery
- You can read technical drawings and know what they mean
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction and the manufacturing process
- Very accurate, with a sharp eye for detail
- Delivers quality workmanship again and again
- Responsible, dependable and professional
- Works effectively as part of a team
- Experience with premium residential or commercial joinery is advantageous
- Employer sponsorship is offered to suitable overseas applicants. Overseas applicants must meet the Australian migration requirements in place, and must be eligible for employer sponsorship where applicable
