Butchery Assistant Manager

You will work side by side with the Butchery Manager to keep the department running well. You will help the team, serve customers and make sure quality stays high every day. Your skills must be hands-on, and your experience must be something the employer can verify.

Key Responsibilities
- Help the butchery department run smoothly and efficiently each day
- Cut, prepare, break down and pack meat using proven butchery methods
- Keep product quality and presentation accurate and consistent
- Guide and train your co-workers on the job, help supervise staff and organise the daily workload
- Help with stock rotation and ordering, and keep wastage under control
- Follow strict rules for food safety, hygiene and workplace safety, and keep the department clean and organised
- Give customers professional service and build good relationships with them
- Work with the Butchery Manager to solve problems in the department and keep productivity up
Requirements & Eligibility
- Solid professional work experience as a Butcher
- Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of preparing meat and of different cuts
- Confident with a knife, with experience in carcass breakdown
- Able to provide evidence of the work experience you claim
- A professional, reliable and accountable attitude
- Good communication and people skills, and able to work well in a team
- Able to stay accurate and keep quality high under pressure
- A strong understanding of food safety and workplace safety requirements
- Available to work Tuesday to Saturday
- Able to meet the requirements of the relevant sponsorship pathway
- Experience being responsible for other staff in the past is advantageous
