Are you a qualified bricklayer looking for steady work? A construction business in Western Australia needs Bricklayers for ongoing residential and commercial projects.
The company wants real tradespeople. You should have hands-on experience, a recognised trade qualification and the skill to lay quality brickwork every day on Australian sites.
Your qualifications and experience will be checked. If they can be verified and your practical skills fit the role, this could be a long-term step up in your trade. Overseas-qualified bricklayers are welcome. Keep copies of your certificates ready, with English translations of any Indonesian documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Study building plans, drawings and project specifications before you start
- Set out the brickwork accurately before construction begins
- Mix mortar so it has the right consistency
- Lay bricks and blocks to the required lines, levels and specifications
- Measure as you go and keep the brickwork straight, using spirit levels and other measuring tools
- Run brick-cutting machines and other trade equipment
- Finish every wall with care for quality, and find and fix any alignment or workmanship problems
- Follow building procedures and safety rules on site
- Work well with supervisors and other trades
- Keep your tools, equipment and work area in good order, and get your tasks done on time for the project schedule
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum Certificate III or equivalent: a recognised Bricklaying trade qualification
- Demonstrated experience as a professional bricklayer
- Strong hands-on knowledge of both residential and commercial building work
- Able to read and understand construction plans
- Proven skill in producing brickwork that is accurate and consistent
- Competent with brick-cutting equipment, levels and measuring tools
- Understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites
- A reliable, professional and committed work attitude
- Able to work on your own and as part of a construction crew
- Physically capable of doing bricklaying work
- Able to give evidence of your relevant qualifications and work experience
- Overseas-qualified Bricklayers with suitable experience are welcome to apply, and sponsorship is available for suitable candidates after their qualifications and experience are assessed
