Breakfast Sous Chef

Do you love the energy of a busy breakfast service? A growing hospitality business in New South Wales needs an experienced Breakfast Sous Chef. You will run the morning kitchen and work closely with the Head Chef.

This is a professional kitchen where your experience, leadership and ideas really count. You will help plan the breakfast menu, lead a small team, make kitchen systems better and keep each morning service smooth and efficient.

The job is permanent and full-time, with regular days off for a good balance between work and life. It is in a beautiful coastal area of NSW, a great fit for an experienced chef who wants a career step and a new lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the breakfast kitchen each day, leading prep and service with high standards
  • Work side by side with the Head Chef on the food and on how the kitchen runs
  • Lead and support up to five breakfast chefs, and help junior cooks learn and grow
  • Help create new breakfast menus and seasonal specials, and improve the ones you have
  • Make sure food quality, presentation and portions stay the same every time
  • Plan the daily prep so every part of the mise en place is done
  • Look after stock levels, orders, stock rotation and waste
  • Keep the kitchen clean, hygienic and food-safe
  • Keep the work moving well during busy breakfast services, and find ways to improve kitchen systems and processes
  • Help the wider kitchen team when needed, and support a kitchen culture that is respectful, motivated and professional

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior chef position
  • Demonstrated experience in kitchens that focus on breakfast or brunch
  • Strong knowledge of modern Australian breakfast and café-style food
  • Has supervised or led a kitchen team before, and can train, mentor and motivate junior chefs
  • Strong skills in preparing and presenting food
  • Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
  • Experience with ordering, stock control and keeping food wastage low
  • Strong organisation and time-management, plus confident leadership and communication
  • Works well in busy service periods and is comfortable with early morning shifts
  • Professional, reliable and team-oriented
  • Commitment to building a long-term career in the Australian hospitality industry; sponsorship available for the successful candidate
