Boilermaker

Paper qualifications are only the start. This Queensland employer wants experienced Boilermakers who can prove their credentials with real fabrication work and time in heavy industry.
The business is an established industrial operation based in Brisbane. You will work in the workshop and at remote sites. Bring practical skills in welding and fabrication, know what quality requirements mean, and stay safe and efficient around heavy machinery and industrial projects.
Tip: prepare an English-language CV, and get Indonesian-language documents translated into English if the visa rules require it.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate steel and carry out boilermaking with suitable tools and gear
- Prepare steel plate and sections by cutting, bending and shaping
- Weld and fabricate exactly as each job specification says
- Do line boring if a job calls for it
- Team up with the leading hand and fabrication crew during production and on site
- Inspect finished jobs to confirm they meet the customer's specs and quality needs, and keep quality assurance consistent
- Stick to safe work practices and the procedures already in place
- Be effective whether working solo or with the team
- Show apprentices practical trade techniques and methods
- Adapt to whatever the workshop or a remote site needs
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Boilermaking trade qualification, or an equivalent one gained overseas
- Proven, practical experience with steel fabrication and boilermaking
- A history in mining, manufacturing or heavy industrial workplaces
- Demonstrated skills in welding and fabricating metal
- Line boring experience from previous jobs is highly regarded
- Can supply evidence for your trade qualifications and relevant work history
- Strong understanding of what quality and safety require on the job
- Available Monday to Saturday, plus occasional overtime
- Ready to go on remote-site assignments when required
- Can successfully complete a pre-employment medical and a drug and alcohol screening
- Overseas candidates who have relevant qualifications and industry experience that can be verified are encouraged to apply
