Key Responsibilities

  • Grit blast industrial items and get their surfaces ready, cleaning them to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
  • Get substrates and materials ready for protective coatings, and confirm each surface passes the cleanliness check before painting
  • Spray zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxy, polyurethane and other industrial systems
  • Work with both airless and conventional spray guns
  • Take wet film gauge readings while painting so every coat reaches its set thickness
  • Complete stripe coats and each other stage listed in the coating specification
  • Stick to QA/QC steps from the first blast to the last coat
  • Inspect and service the blasting and painting gear, and solve faults with the blast equipment and blast room
  • Move blasting trolleys on and off
  • Leave your area tidy, organised and safe

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industrial blasting and painting experience
  • Workshop experience in industrial surface treatment is essential
  • Proven skill in abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
  • You understand industrial paint and protective coating systems
  • You have used zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethanes
  • You can use airless and conventional spray equipment with confidence
  • You can put coatings on accurately at the thicknesses specified, and you understand wet film measurement and how coating quality is controlled
  • You know the whole process of surface preparation and coating
  • Good at finding faults and keeping equipment in working order
  • Careful with details and committed to steady, consistent work
  • Forklift licence is desirable
  • Gantry or overhead crane operating experience is desirable
  • Overseas candidates who are eligible may be considered for sponsorship
