Bar and Restaurant Manager

Do you enjoy running a busy venue? A leading hospitality group is hiring an experienced Hospitality Manager for a full-time bar and restaurant role in Southland, New Zealand.
You will keep daily service running well, lead the front-of-house team and make sure customer service stays at a steady, high level. The group is looking for someone with proven front-of-house management experience, strong service skills and the confidence to coordinate how the venue runs.

Key Responsibilities
- Run front-of-house and the whole venue each day so service goes smoothly
- Make sure the venue follows the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, the Gambling Act 2003 and workplace safety requirements
- Meet liquor licensing rules and venue policies
- Teach and guide staff on responsible service and managing customers
- Control liquor inventory, purchasing, stock and reporting
- Build efficient rosters for bar and service staff
- Keep the venue clean, organised and well presented, and keep all equipment maintained and working
- Check venue records, incident reports and daily operating paperwork
- Plan and run promotions that lift sales and customer engagement
- Make sure financial procedures, cash handling and security processes are followed, and help the management team reach business and profit goals
- Give excellent customer service, keep guests and staff safe, and take on other operational duties that venue management asks for
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in hospitality or front-of-house management
- A relevant hospitality qualification, or proven experience in the industry
- Must have a Duty Manager Certificate, or be eligible to obtain one
- A strong hospitality operations and customer service background, including managing teams in a busy venue
- Experience with TAB and gaming/pokie machines is highly desirable
- Knows liquor licensing regulations and responsible service practices
- Can work flexible hours, including weekends, late nights and public holidays, and full-time hours (30–40 hours per week)
- Strong skills in communication, leadership and solving problems
