An established accounting practice in Queensland is hiring a Senior Accountant for its Cairns office. You will look after your own SME clients and help the practice keep growing.
The firm wants real Australian public practice experience and strong tax knowledge. You should feel confident talking with business owners directly. The team is friendly and works closely together, and learning is encouraged. For the right person, there is a structured path to a Manager position.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate tax returns and financial statements in an efficient way
- Handle Division 7A, Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) matters with practical knowledge
- Be responsible for the accounting and tax work of a group of SME clients
- Speak with clients directly about accounting, tax and business questions, and build strong long-term relationships with them
- Help clients with accounting and business advice, and support advisory projects and other value-added services
- Make sure every piece of work meets high professional and compliance standards
- Work closely with your colleagues so clients get consistent results
- Grow your technical and leadership skills so you can move into a Manager role
Requirements & Eligibility
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently close to completing it
- At least 4 years of experience in Australian Public Practice
- Strong hands-on background in Australian tax compliance
- Demonstrated experience with SME clients, plus proven ability to manage client relationships on your own
- Practical knowledge of Division 7A, CGT and FBT
- Excellent spoken and written communication
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation
- A high level of attention to detail
- A reliable work ethic and a professional attitude
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and accept more responsibility
- Able to work well in a collaborative accounting environment
