Diesel Motor Mechanic

Do you like finding and fixing faults on big machines? This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic. You need good technical skills and you should be confident with diagnosis.
Each day you will work on heavy vehicles, diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical parts. You will join a professional team where safety always comes first.

Key Responsibilities
- Find the cause of complex mechanical faults and fix them properly
- Look after heavy diesel trucks and vehicles with regular servicing, planned inspections and preventative maintenance
- Fix diesel engines and other mechanical parts
- Solve problems in hydraulic systems, and find and repair electrical faults
- Use vehicle diagnostic equipment and software
- Write accurate maintenance records for every repair and service you finish
- Work safely and follow health and safety requirements
- Keep the workplace tidy, organised and professional
- Work in the workshop and outdoors
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years' experience working as a heavy vehicle diesel mechanic
- Full Class 1 driver's licence; Class 4 licence highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of diesel mechanics, with excellent skills in diagnosis and finding faults
- Has worked with hydraulic systems and with electrical systems in vehicles
- Competent using software and tools for diagnosis
- Can work on your own and also in a team
- Strong communication skills, and good at keeping records and documents
- Puts safety first in everything
- Physically fit for mechanical work, in the workshop and in outdoor conditions
- Must successfully pass drug and alcohol tests before starting work
- Must successfully get through a medical assessment
- Must pass a Ministry of Justice check
- Already holds New Zealand work rights, or is eligible for AEWV (one of these is required)
