Climbing Arborist

Tree work in the Bay of Plenty, with lots of variety. A professional crew that cares for trees across the region needs a Climbing Arborist. The team gives you good-quality equipment, training that is paid, and solid backing in the workplace.
About the pay: hourly rates are competitive and depend on what you bring in skills and experience. Allowances are added, lunch breaks are paid, and callouts for emergencies attract their own rates. Overseas applicants who are eligible receive help moving to New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
- Use professional arboricultural equipment to climb, and stay safe while working at height
- Reduce trees, handle technical removals, and set up rigging for controlled dismantling
- Carry out climbing operations for residential, rural and commercial clients, helping on large-scale commercial tree projects as well as smaller residential ones
- Operate specialist machinery and equipment and keep it well maintained
- Follow each site's safety requirements and the work method planned for the job
- Partner with ground staff so projects finish efficiently
- Look for ways existing trees and vegetation can be retained
- Respond to emergency tree jobs if required
- Join regular training sessions, which are paid
- Hold all completed work to professional standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified in Arboriculture to Level 3 or 4, or with equivalent experience
- Relevant experience working professionally as a climbing arborist
- Competent in climbing, rigging and technical removals, and can undertake climbing operations needing minimal supervision
- Essential: a Class 1 driver's licence
- Advantageous: a Class 2 or Heavy Transport licence
- Strong commitment to safety and health in the workplace
- Honest and dependable, with a motivated approach
- Communicates well and works well in a team
- Happy to undertake more training and development
- International candidates are welcome if they hold relevant qualifications and experience
- Sponsorship for a work visa, supported by the employer, is on offer to suitable candidates
